Disconnect, Reconnect, Disconnect, Reconnect, "DISCONNECT"
Disconnect a Hardcore band from Anchorage, Alaska. I recall in the 90's when melodic hardcore really became pretty popular and made its way through the college stations. Disconnect has their own invested into their sound and you can count on some good jams. Disconnect are owning it and you should take a gander at their myspace page "Disconnect" to hear some jams. Check them out!
GET MAD,GET LAUGHS,GET DISGUSTED,GET OFFENDED, GET VIDAR

So I had just download the Vidar 17 song EP out titled "In The Bag EP," and I got a kick out of this one, These guys are from Anchorage, Alaska. And their album It somewhat makes you feel like your in a nightmare a bit as you listen, four sec tracks, to close to seven minutes. Free Pizza and Punchable's or an a-bomb party, This is definetly a band for those whom take things lightly, you will get this burst of funny then back to the nightmare. You find yourself wanting to stop it but not wanting to put your earphones down wondering what will they say next, unless you were offended and sat down the earphones right away if you a wiccan and just dont like their message they are sending about free pizza and straight edge kids who don't listen to minor threat haha =D, Alright folks ride this train all night right here. Take a gander Download their album. I promise you that it will be hard not to keep listening. The views of this band does not reflect the views of any parties involved with the blog.Wednesday, December 2, 2009
Roots: decline of northern civilization parts I & II by Josh Medsker ex-Anchorage zinester , Must read for sure.
Welcome back to the Blog folks, I have something today I read not too long ago about anchorage and the scene from the 80s-90s it was written pretty well, though one would really know to detail if you were there. The influence oh hardcore in Alaska in the 80s was immense and at first kinda suprising though it seems like the whole country really took it head on around those days. I am sure glad it did happen because to this day it is still a pepto in the gut of boiling indigestion of the major industry's and pop. Of all the Akon I been fed everywhere I go I am ready to puke Akon in to my almighty porcelain god at the thought of hearing his name on the radio or tv again. Suicidal Tendancies, DOA, Bands mentioned in this blog earlier and other great bands, Warning Zine and The Werehaus, Ok here is is Roots: decline of northern civilization, Believe me this is a good read. It is worth the click! Check out these really good pics of the werehaus in anchorage as well, hopefully the photographer of these photo's doesnt get to upset i posted this link up. Damn search's anyways! haha Werehaus <---- Click

Hey, let's start giving a shit..
Current mood: annoyed
Category: Goals, Plans, Hopes
We've got a problem.
The Downstairs is close to shutting it's doors forever. This will be the 3rd venue to close, leaving us with nothing but house shows (which rule, but no one can ever throw them) and paying for shows (like what Dave is doing on Halloween, thanks bud).
Why is it closing? Oh yeah, probably because no one cares. Bands want to be assholes to people who are trying to help (ie: Hellen Fleming/Josh Fryfogel/..Robinson Garcia/Al from Bitoz), or because it's the same four bands that play every show.
How about instead of boycotting or not showing up to certain shows because of drama, or because your friends aren't going, you just go. I mean, yeah, our economy sucks right now, but $8 once a week for a local show to happen isn't a huge cash suck.
Think about this: if there is no steady venue, where will bands be able to come up? Where will your friends band, or your band, be able to play for everyone? Why will your little brother or sister even want to listen to music, or play it if there isn't a place to introduce and debut new things to the youth? Alaska is a pretty musical place, and I remember seeing 200 kids showing up every Friday for local shows and actually LISTENING to the bands, not standing outside having a cigarette or sitting on the couch. Let's change this.
Go to every show you can, appreciate the people who put it on, thank the person who set up the show (it's a lot more work than you'd think, there's a lot of time and stress that goes into it), and promote shows that your friends are going to or playing, or any show for that matter just to make sure kids show up and have a good time. If we want to be heard and hear new music, we need to keep at least one venue open.
Main point: Show up to shows, appreciate them, get into the music, appreciate the bands and people that make shows happen, buy CDs, but t-shirts, buy stickers, sing a long, give a shit about something that means a lot.
Alaska is really boring, and you all know this, so why let the one fun thing we have left to do go to waste? Every Friday, you can look forward to being with friends and seeing your favorite locals (and sometimes out of state bands like Trash Talk, Ceremony, Unrestrained, Norma Jean, ETID, Hatebreed, etc) play music and enjoy yourself.
I hope at least some of you give a shit, because I know we do. Repost this if you feel the same. Even if you don't go to show, encourage your friends to, or go with your friends for the experience. The more people, the more fun, the more bands we can get up here, the better things we can accomplish.
My rant is done, love and respect.
